REDUCING EMISSIONS

Paper Products
• We advocate using Lucart paper products instead of the standard white-bleached paper.
• Lucart paper comprises 100% recycled beverage cartons (Tetra pack).
• Lucart paper feels the same (or often softer) as standard paper.
• Lucart paper breaks down the same in pipes.
• In most cases, Lucart paper costs the same or less than standard paper.
• Certification is issued every 6 months to demonstrate your contribution.
• We can also introduce Lucart hand towel dispensers instead of standard ones, as most are made from 100% recycled beverage cartons.

Transportation
We mobilise predominantly using public transport or electric vehicles, with five of the six
vehicles in our fleet being electric.
90% of our cleaning solutions come in super-concentrates, diluted on-site, reducing the
weight transported and CO2 emissions.

Plastic Reduction
• Our safety signs (wet-floor/cleaning in progress signs) are made of 100% recycled plastic.
• Our Kentucky buckets are made from 100% recycled plastic.
• Our Probiotic cleaning bottles are made of 50% recycled plastic.
• 50% of our vacuum cleaners are made from 75% recycled plastic.
• All of our cleaning product containers are 100% recyclable.
• 90% of our cleaning solutions come in super-concentrates, diluted on-site, and reduce plastic
waste by around 300 trigger spray bottles per 1L of concentrate.
• Our feminine hygiene bins are made from 100% recycled plastic.

FEMININE HYGIENE WASTE - ZERO TO LANDFILL
The offensive waste (Feminine Hygiene) goes to Lakeside EFW (Energy From Waste) at Colnbrook and
is 100% diversion from landfill.
All offensive waste will be diverted from the landfill via our EFW. Oversize metals are recovered from
the bottom ash on site, and the smaller items are carried into the ash pit. The ferrous metal within
the ash is recovered at a plant, which turns the bottom ash into aggregate. Typically, having taken the
large metal items out of the ash, 6% of the bottom ash by weight is ferrous and non-ferrous metal.
The bottom ash is primarily used in sub-base structures for road works and similar foundations.
The only other residue from the EFW is the APC Residue (Air Pollution Control Residues), which, by
nature of the clean-up medium, lime, is hazardous. APC residue is turned into an aggregate. The
aggregate created from this process is used in bonded materials such as ready-mixed concrete or
block-making.
This innovation results in all material that goes into the EFW first generating electricity and is then
recycled. The plant is a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, and GWM is developing local
infrastructure to utilise the excess heat to maximise the efficiencies of the plant.

replacing the ideaof needing to fill our spaceswith toxic chemicals
meant to protect our health.

Lucart Paper Products – The dispensers will soon have messaging (stickers) that shares the
Lucart concept with the members and encourages them to adopt similar practices.
